The recent issue that occurred (many of you know about it, others may not, but I won't explain it now) with tracing/copying has put something on my mind. Because of this, I have a question for all of you. Please vote on the poll to right and it would be greatly appreciated if you also voted in comments, along with a reason why you think it should/shouldn't be allowed, and other things you might want to mention.
Should we allow things that were copied? I don't think we should allow traced picture/paintings, but what about things that were copied? Like if someone free hands a picture they're looking at on a computer. I understand if they would to that to a picture they made them-self, a photograph, etc, but not something that was painted, drawn, etc.
Yes or no.
Thank you for your input! I hope that EVERYONE votes on this matter, especially after the last incident.

I don't think it should be allowed, and if it is, I think we should have rules about it.

I don't think it should be allowed either.
ReplyDeleteWe can paint or draw from another photograph, sure, but copying it from someone else could get us in trouble. MAJOR trouble.
I really don't agree to this, but if this ends up as a "Yes, we should allow it," then I just worry about copyrights.
I think yes cuz as long as they give credit (which they should) it's perfectly fine. Plus copying is a form of flattery that idea was sooooooo gooooooood that someone else wanted to use it. So it's a yes for me.
ReplyDeleteNo. You can use someone else's drawings as REFERENCE'S, but you should never trace directly.
ReplyDeleteWell yeah what Dreamstar said
ReplyDeleteYes, I also worry about copyright.
ReplyDeleteP.S
I want to thank you for finally doing that thing in LakeClan. I really appreciate it, and it's a relief that it's finally finished with.
Well you HAVE TO give credit you should it's called copyright law so I say yes as long as they give credit!
ReplyDeleteI don't exactly know what you mean. Do you mean, we shouldn't draw pictures of, lets say.... The Little Mermaid (lol) because she belongs to Disney??
ReplyDeleteI mean like, if we see a picture online that someone drew and we copy it completely and say that no one can copy it.
ReplyDeleteOf course not!!! I mean, considering what Brooke just said, that changes a lot.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes look at pictures of Disney characters and other cartoon things online to see the dimensions and form, but never trace directly, or say that no one can copy it. I think doing this is just fine, especially if you give credit. But NEVER tracing directly or claiming the whole creation of your own.
Okay, thanks! I'm not leaning towards any answer, I was just wondering. I want to make sure everyone thinks it's good for everybody ;)
